Over the past few years, a number of efforts have sprouted up attempting to develop systems that could effectively deliver what’s been dubbed “remote learning”. A common factor has been that they were either text-based only or were overly expensive to initiate. This is no longer true.

A technology called “streaming media” has made it possible to deliver appealing, informative, and entertaining multimedia training presentations that utilize tools that only a year ago were restricted primarily to boardroom presentations, video conferencing, or in-person information delivery to large audiences such as audio/video and narrated slideshows. Streaming media has matured to the extent that it enables us to now deliver such content over just a 56k dialup Internet connection without long waits for downloading. The content is buffered in the viewers' PC and downloads as it plays. For the first time ever, effective interactive training will be available in an on-demand basis delivered to a single individual or even a group through a single low speed Internet connection right where they work.

The knowledgeable employee inspires confidence in the customer with his or her own confidence level and can, therefore, make it easier for the customer to comfortably make a choice. That kind of confidence comes through, whether its knowing one's job, managing a crew, or installing a six handed wedge grommet.
